The BIG story
The merger of ntl and Telewest on 6th March 2006 was just the start of the story. Over the past year, the two networks have become one, so that today we can offer not only the largest fibre optic network in the UK, but also a network that offers a genuine alternative to BT and its own network. We already provide services to more than a third of FTSE 100 companies, but our integrated network's scope and deep local presence means that we are now capable of providing services to any business and organisation in the UK. Our network has the largest Ethernet presence in the UK and is capable of carrying a variety of high bandwidth applications. We have always had the people, products and services to rival anyone - now we have the network too. 21st century communications really are on your doorstep.
For our customers, the merger was seamless. We are proud of the BIG customer service we offer, and last year the Communications Managers Association (CMA), acknowledged that we led the market in providing a high-quality customer experience. We are also proud of the fact that all of our major customers have stayed with us over the past year.
Virgin Media
Next came the Virgin Mobile acquisition. In many ways, it was a natural fit. Both companies put their customers at the heart of what they do and it gives us the chance to add mobile communications to our product portfolio in the near future.
Despite the acquisition, the business division of ntl:Telewest will not be rebranding. It has taken us many years to build our reputation as a reliable and innovative provider in the business market, and we want to maintain that.
